Last week, I was not very grateful for anything. I had a lot to complain about. However, this weekend showed us that we have a lot to be grateful for.
Saturday, we did our annual Susan's Run. Susan was a running mate of my sister's in high school who got cancer and died way too early. She wrote a blog as she was treated and when she passed, her family started a charity to benefit young adults with cancer. We've done the run each year since it started. My grateful moment was seeing Susan's dad running and thinking to myself that I hope my dad never has to go through what her dad did, or that Jonathan never has to for Emma. I watched my crazy nieces and nephews run around like monkeys and thought to myself, 'wow, we really are lucky'.
Saturday night, we were saved by some amazing friends so we could go out for the night. We went to a murder mystery dinner and had a blast. Sunday, I was grateful for Tylenol and friends who will help out when they know that it's more than just a night out.
Emma has had a monster cough since Friday and has had difficulties sleeping. However, yesterday, that kid napped like a champ and is currently still sleeping from her night sleep. Our Lou baby has always been a great sleeper, but over the last month has had some sleep regression. It seems like that phase is over, which I am glad for. She's really growing and needs the sleep to support that growth. Yesterday, we were grateful for the peace that sleep brought to everyone.
Tonight, I get to be reunited with some great friends.
So, thank you to whomever sent me that lesson to be grateful. Duly noted.

You should also be grateful for being astute enough to get the message; many get wake-up calls that they ignore. Give the Lou Baby a big kiss on her squishy cheeks for me. <3
