When we came home from Minnesota, I didn't feel right. I attributed it to the long drive and being off exercise and clean eating for a few weeks. I was having a difficult time taking a deep breath, so Saturday night I googled my symptoms. (Side note: I love Google. Whenever my students ask me a question I'm unsure of, we google it) Besides the scary (lung disease), I noticed the word 'pregnancy'. Hmmm.... So, the next morning (July 18), I got up and took a test. And it confirmed the google. I am, in fact, pregnant! I took 5 different tests just to confirm it. J, Kobe and I took a walk and after we got back I told J that I figured out why I felt the way I did and then showed him the test. He was excited, hugged me, and looked generally overwhelmed or disbelieving. Since it was Sunday, I couldn't call the doctor so that waited until Monday. My type A took over and I headed to the bookstore after lunch at Grimaldi's with Papa J. A book, a journal, and Howard Zinn's "A People's History" later, I was back home and doing my homework. What can't I eat? What activities should I do or not do? When do we tell people?
Long and exhausting, I gave up and took a bath.
Monday, I called the doctor and got an appointment for today (July 20). Not sure what to expect, but I am going to blog all about it so I don't forget this experience :) Too bad no one will see it until September!
Baby Schley, we are so blessed and happy to have you come into our lives!
