| I did it! 11 miles of jog/walking, 6 miles on the bike, and 2 hours of yoga! |
First of all, I completed week one of my half marathon training and did not die. Yesterday, I ran outside in the 100 degree temp. Bad idea. I only did 2.5 of the 4 miles. I did finish my run, but I did it inside running around my house. Laugh if you will, but I completed the 4 miles necessary with good time. It's starting to feel good to run and I don't always want to die. However, this is only week 1 of 12, so we have awhile and way more mileage to go. But, the half marathon is paid for, so there is no turning back now.

| My big girl |
Friday, I almost quit my job. Literally. After taking the above pictures for myself, I cried the entire way to work. Got to school to a nasty parent message. Ok, I was already upset, but this persons rude tone did nothing to help. Wrote my resignation letter and planned on grabbing all of my stuff over the weekend. Remembered the reality of the situation, called the parent back and patiently listened to her complain. I then told her that not only did her child do the assignment correctly, but she did a really good job on it. Then, I told her how her tone really hurt me. I reminded her that teachers are people too, and that coming into work to that phone message after leaving my baby made me want to quit my job after 9 years. I made her feel bad, but I didn't really care. We ended on a great note and I was proud of myself for keeping my cool and also for telling her, in a nice way, that I am a person with feelings. I'm glad I stood up for myself and I'm glad she was responsive. I still wanted to quit, but only because I hate leaving Emma everyday.
Speaking of Emma, she had a fun week! We started putting her in her high chair while Jonathan and I eat dinner. We've started turning off the TV and sitting at the table. My family did this every night. We sat at the table and talked. J and I are trying to start Emma off on the right foot and I really think that family dinners are important. She has also grown ANOTHER size, so we are now in 6-9 month clothing... or 9 month in Carter's. We are trying to figure out a schedule for the afternoons so we can maximize our time with happy Emma before crabby Emma shows up. It's all a learning process. A really fun, amazing learning process. What did we do before this cherub showed up? We just can't get enough!
