Testing, snow, and Hawkeye fever

25 weeks, 5 days... Headed to the glucose test

We totally forgot to take a 6 month (24 week) picture, but the above will have to suffice. I've really started keeping this blog now for Emma. When she gets pregnant and has her first child, I want her to be able to read how my pregnancy was. It's also fun for me because I forget everything lately, so being able to go back and read this is pretty sweet.

Monday, I went in for my glucose test. I listened to the instructions my sister gave me, went in, drank the orange stuff (which wasn't bad, tasted like the orange drink from McDonalds), sat for an hour, and got my blood drawn. I felt pretty good afterwards, ate the peanut butter sandwich and cheese I brought and proceeded to the chiropractor. I'm a big fan of chiropractic during pregnancy and am willing to pay for this glory that helps me stand straight and pain free. Driving home, I realized how hungry I was and stopped at the store for a sandwich. By the time I got home, I crashed. Haven't heard from the doctor yet, which is a good sign. I was told that if I failed the initial test, I would get a call soon after. Our next doctors appointment is the first week in January, and after that appointment we go to a bimonthly appointment. Our second trimester is almost over... I've started drinking organic milk (to help with the inflammation in my hip) and really am being careful about what goes in my body. I've gained the allotted amount of weight already, so I need to slow it down some. However, I am still happily eating.

Right now, I am sitting in a cozy house and looking at the feet of snow outside. We are spending Christmas with the Schley family this year. For some reason, the snow makes it feel a lot like Christmas. I don't mind the cold because I myself am my own personal heater and it's a nice change from the sun I see 362 days out of the year. This is the first time I get to be in on the Schley traditions. Next year, we will be home for Emma's first Christmas and we will be inviting everyone to our house to celebrate. We get to start our own traditions as a family next year and I am very excited. Needless to say, Santa will start visiting Gilbert even though our little Em will only be 9 months old.

When I get home, I am being whisked immediately to ASU stadium for the Insight Bowl. I get to see my Hawkeyes play TWICE in one year. Hopefully, this game will result in a victory. I talked to my dad yesterday and the Hawks were at my old high school practicing. He got to see everyone and chat with Coach Ferentz. My jealousy is raging! Only my father. I hope Emma realizes that watching Iowa isn't just about football. It's about family. Even though her Grandpa Chuck only has one boy in the family, his girls are more about football than any boy out there.

I miss my family this year, but I'm having a relaxing time here in Minnesota. Tomorrow, I get to see some of my family (weather permitting) and also on Sunday for my Minne baby shower.

All is quiet on the Northern front...
