Homemade by Pinterest

I'm not going to lie. I'm love Pinterest (aka The Black Hole as my aunt calls it) Sure, I pin some things that I would probably never do, but I've been making it a point to try or buy the things that I pin. For example, all of the dresses on My Style board I've either purchased or plan to purchase at some point. When I plan dinners for the month, I use my To Eat board. If it's something that no one liked, I delete it, especially since I live with two of the biggest food critics in the world.

Lately, I've been made more aware of what is in the food we eat, especially the food we give to Emma. Her little body needs good nourishment and it's my job to make sure that happens. I want her to grow up with a healthy love of food. Real food, not junk.

**Full disclosure: I am not, nor do I claim to be a nutritionist or queen of the world. I am consider my day complete when we've eaten, combed our hair, brushed our teeth, and MAYBE changed out of our pajamas.

Anyway, I've put a few of my pins to the test.

1. Slow cooker marinara: This is currently slow cooking, so I will let you know. I did use organic tomatoes, tomato paste and basil only because that it what I had on hand. Costco sells organic canned tomatoes in bulk. It smells good... Maybe someday I'll use some San Marzano tomatoes for this.

2. Laundry soap: This is the bomb. THE.BOMB. It's cheap, it makes a ton, and sometimes I'll add lavender or grapefruit essential oil straight to the laundry. My clothes are cleaner than ever, and I like that it doesn't leave any smell at all. I'm not really a huge fan of scented laundry soap and since Emma and I have sensitive skin, this has been a God send. I will never, ever buy laundry detergent again... especially after what I read about Tide Free and Clear. I know I can't protect Emma from everything, but I sure can in this circumstance.

3. Citrus scrub: I LOVE this. I use coconut oil and sometimes sugar instead of salt. I also make lavender sugar scrub. I love to use the citrus scrub on my hands after making stinky foods like salmon or cutting up onions.

4. Mashed cauliflower: I liked it. Emma and Jonathan were kind of put off by it but I think Emma didn't want it because Daddy wasn't eating it. This totally cured any potato craving I had.

5. Energy Bites: This is my favorite thing I've found so far. Easy to make and EVERYONE in my household loves it. It's nice to have on hand during the busier weeks.

Now, there are things I tried and hated or failed, but I deleted them from my Pinterest because why would I keep them??

What are you favorite Pinterest finds?

By the way, I also found this on Pinterest:

Only one more week until football starts!
