Marathon complete

Wow! What a weekend! Lou baby had the best weekend yet, and is currently recovering from said fun. Today, we are not going anywhere as my poor baby needs to just chill from a weekend of baptism, being passed around, and dealing with her first Arizona summer. She is currently yelling at the birds on her play mat.

Friday was a whirl of appointments for mama and daddy. We also got ready for our company for the weekend. Grandma and Grandpa Schley and Uncle Jason came to visit us for the weekend! Emma was already in bed by the time they arrived on Friday night.

Saturday, Emma got to see everyone and meet Uncle Jason. The morning was nice and calm. I tried to get Emma to nap as much as possible so that she would be ok for Mass. The family converge on our house around noon to hang out and eat before church. We headed to Mass and got a seat near the back and near the cry room (which, by the way is a wonderful idea). Emma got through most of the Mass, but soon needed to eat and get her diaper changed. We headed back to the cry room once Lou got really tired. After Mass, we headed to the front for the baptism. By this time, Emma was asleep. There were 5 other children getting baptized and all went off without a hitch. Emma cried a bit when the holy water was poured on her head, mostly because she was asleep and not having being woken up. Jonathan took her half way during the ceremony because my chunky monkey was too heavy for me to hold the entire time. We all came back to the house afterwards and had our own party for Emma while she slept soundly.

Sunday was J's first Father's Day! Emma woke early and hung out with Grandpa Jim for a bit. Once Grandma and Daddy woke up, everyone headed outside for coffee. We left for Ama and Papa's around noon. It was too hot outside for Lou, so we stayed inside most of the time. It was nice to hang out and go swimming with all the kids and be with both of our families. Our visitors from Minnesota left from there and even though it sucked to say goodbye, we will see them in a few weeks!

Loving on Papa, June 19

How can you not love these two? Father's Day, June 2011

Picking Emma's godparents was easy. Even though Emma has a ton of people who love her, J and I made our choices the way we did because we felt that it was important to have family as the godparents. I got to choose the Godmother. I chose my sister Heather because it is completely obvious how much she loves her niece. I know that Heather will always be there for Emma and Heather and I are very close, so it seemed the obvious choice. J chose our brother in law, Jason. Even though Jason just met his niece, you can tell that he would do anything in the world for her as he would for anyone in his family. We both know that Heather and Jason will play very important roles in Emma's life, and we are very happy that they agreed to be Emma's Godparents!
