Maternity Leave

My maternity leave starts today. I am off for six weeks before going back to work for a few weeks and then starting the summer of Emma and Mama.  Jonathan will be off for a week with Emma when I go back and then Heather will have her for the last week and a half before the summer starts. Honestly, I don't have enough days to be off for the rest of the year and our last chunk of PFP only allots for 40 days off. I'll be pushing 37. That's almost $900 that I would be missing out on. Besides the money, I think J wants to have her to himself for a week and I want him to have her. I don't think that he really understands how much work Emma is going to be and that week will give him a look into how hard it is to be a stay at home mom, especially since he's teaching summer school this year while I stay home with Emma Lou Who.

I'm not really sure what I am going to be doing this week. You can only rest so much. I have a massive Target list going of stuff I need. Things like shampoo, lotion, and stuff that I use everyday but won't want to worry about once Emma comes. Plus, Kelly has told me of the wondrous newborn lounger that her little girl loves, so in turn I will buy one. I've appreciated all her little gems of advice as another first time mom and as someone I've loved and trusted for more than 8 years.

I'm really happy that I'm not going to work next week. It'll be nice to have some low key time before baby love gets here. I can start labor in the comfort of my own home or be prepared to be induced (either way, I don't care). It's almost zen-like to know that I have no responsibilities to anyone except myself until the birth of our daughter.
